The Bitter Truth was founded in 2006 by two Munich bartenders, Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck.

The new company's primary business was to be the creation of cocktail spices, the so-called "bitters", which were hard to come by on the German market at the time. Both founders had considerable experience in using and preparing bitters, and also had collections of such spices - both those currently in production and those whose production had long been abandoned. In addition to cocktail spices, The Bitter Truth soon began producing liqueurs, in which these spices were an important ingredient, as well as rums and gins.

Bitter Truth Lemon Bitters was the first cocktail seasoning with a dominant lemon note. It has the aroma of hot tea with lemon and honey. Among the aromatic accents present in Lemon Bitters we can find cardamom, coriander, fruity and sorbet notes. According to the producer, it is best suited for drinks based on pure distillates, although it will liven up and add freshness to any cocktail.
