Product description
At the beginning of 2017, Bowmore Distillery, the oldest distillery on Islay, operating since 1779, announced changes to its offering to the Travel Retail chain.
Bowmore Black Rock, Gold Reef and White Sands (debuted in 2014) are going away, as are Bowmore Springtide, replaced by three new editions. The oldest and, in our opinion, the most interesting of them is Bowmore Deep & Complex, composed of distillates aged for at least 18 years in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. All whiskies from the new offer are bottled with an age statement, which will undoubtedly please most whisky lovers.
Nose : mild and sweet, with a slightly subdued note of peat, bitter orange jam, blackcurrants, gooseberries, walnuts, raisins, coffee beans and a trace of damp wool.
Taste: slightly oily, subtle smoky notes, chocolate-coated raisins, toffee, mixed nuts, bitter oranges, plums and a pinch of salt.
Finish: quite long and warming, bitter orange jam, raisins, a pinch of salt and pepper and a light whiff of peat smoke in the background.
