Product description
The history of rum production on the island of Antigua in the Lesser Antilles dates back to the early 18th century.
However, with the abolition of slavery in the first half of the 19th century, due to the lack of labour to work on sugar cane plantations, both cane cultivation and rum production disappeared. It was not until 1932 that a group of Portuguese merchants came together to establish Antigua Distillery, a company producing rum under the Cavalier brand. In 1993, the English Harbour brand was created, and at the beginning of the 21st century, the company focused on the production of aged rums, matured in oak barrels. Due to the fact that the revival of sugar cane cultivation was unsuccessful, rum production is based on cane molasses, imported here from the Dominican Republic and Guyana. Rum is distilled in copper rectification columns, and matured in barrels of American whiskey.
English Harbour Aged 5 Years Rum is a multi-award-winning rum, matured in oak barrels for 5 years. In its bouquet we find fruity accents, sweet molasses, orange peel, coconut, oak and spices.
