Product description
The history of the Serralles distillery, where Caliche rum comes from, dates back to 1865.
It was then that Don Juan Serrallés, the son of a Spanish settler, produced the first barrel of rum on the family's sugar plantation, Hacienda Mercedita. Today, the distillery is run by Robert Serrallés, a sixth-generation member of the family, among others. The rum is made from molasses, distilled five times, and matured in American oak bourbon barrels.
Caliche Puerto Rican Rum is blended from distillates aged for 3, 4, 5 years and a dose of solera-aged rum. This rum is filtered with charcoal to remove the coloring that comes with the aging process.
