Product description
The history of Varela Hermanos SA and Abuelo rum dates back to 1908, when Spanish immigrant Don José Varela Blanco opened the first San Isidro sugar mill in the Panamanian town of Pesé.
Alcohol distillation from fermented sugar cane juice began there in 1936. The Abuelo brand appeared in 1976, with the installation of a modern alcohol production line, including a stainless steel rectification column system. Today, Varela Hermanos SA is one of the leading alcohol producers in Panama. It is one of the few that cultivates its own sugar cane.
Abuelo Centuria Rum is a special edition, a blend of rums, some of which have matured in oak barrels for up to 30 years. Made from the oldest family reserves for the company's centenary. In the bouquet of this drink we will find accents of oak, vanilla, caramel, smoke, spices, a hint of sherry and toffee.
