Product description
Glen Mhor Distillery has not produced whisky since 1983 and the memory of it is slowly fading away. It is likely that many young whisky lovers have never even had the chance to come across it.
Too bad. Glen Mhor single malt made a huge impression on Neil Gunn, the Scottish poet and writer who briefly worked at the distillery as an excise officer. “Until you’ve had the good fortune to taste a perfectly mature whisky, you don’t really know what it’s like,” he wrote of Glen Mhor single malt. Here we present the whisky the poet mentioned – distilled in 1966, aged for 30 years in a sherry cask and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at cask strength for Milan’s iconic Metro bar to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The edition consisted of 199 bottles.
Nose : deep tones of sherry, coffee beans, dark chocolate, beef jerky, leather, raisins, cherries, hazelnuts, a good cigar and a handful of dry herbs.
Palate : rich and complex, chocolate-covered cherries, raisins, honey, mixed herbs, cinnamon, cloves, orange jam, notes of tobacco and sherry-soaked oak.
Finish: extremely long, herbal-spicy with notes of oak and dried fruit.
