Douglas McGibbon & Co. Ltd was established in 1947 as a subsidiary of Douglas Laing & Co. McGibbon's whisky did not debut until 1976 with the "Golf Range" collection, a blended whisky presented in glasses shaped like golf accessories.
It gained huge popularity, especially in Asia and the States, and in 1990 brought the company the prestigious Queen's Award for Export Achievement. In 2014 Douglas McGibbon & Co. re-released two editions of the whisky for the Ryder Cup tournament held at the famous Gleneagles resort. The Special Reserve Blended Whisky presented here is a blend of malt and grain distillates aged in first and refill bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. The whisky is presented in a ceramic decanter in the shape of a golf club head.
Aroma : vanilla, honeyed cereals, burnt sugar, orange and lemon peel, raisins, walnuts, notes of cinnamon and oak.
Taste : barley malt, honey, toffee, coconut, plums, cherries, blood oranges, milk chocolate and a hint of allspice.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, coconut flakes, raisins, a touch of cinnamon and oak.
