Product description
From 2009-2015 we followed the evolution of Kilkerran single malt with the Work in Progress editions.
In August 2016, Kilkerran ceased to be a “work in progress” with the release of a 12 year old, a precursor to the core range. The 12 year old is made from 70% bourbon barrel-aged and 30% sherry barrel-aged spirits and bottled without chill filtration at 46% ABV. Kilkerran single malt is produced at the Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown. Why, at a time of such huge popularity, the distillery is only using 7-8% of its potential and producing around 50,000 litres of spirit per year remains a mystery to many.
Aroma : well-balanced, slightly mineral, breath of the earth, forest floor, lemon peel, apples, vanilla, marzipan, biscuits, delicate oak and herbal notes and a trace of peat.
Palate: fruity, salty and peaty, oranges, grapefruits, apples, peaches, vanilla, pepper, nutmeg, a pinch of cinnamon, gusts of sea breeze and peat smoke and a handful of dry herbs.
Finish : long, with notes of licorice, lemon, pepper, peat and brine.
