Product description
Springbank Distillery began operations in 1828 and remains owned by the founding family to this day.
Its buildings are located in the centre of Campbeltown, a town and the smallest Scotch whisky producing region on the Kintyre Peninsula. Between 1880 and 1920, there were 34 distilleries there, but only two survived into the 21st century. The Springbank edition presented here was released in September 2004, in an edition of 2,400 bottles. The whisky, distilled in 1971, spent 32 years in refilled sherry casks and was bottled at the standard Springbank 46%.
Aroma : surprisingly fresh, a bit of wax and furniture polish, a bouquet of dried flowers, a hint of lavender, vanilla, toffee, peanut butter, baked apples, bananas, traces of cinnamon and coconut flakes.
Taste: pleasantly balanced, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, raisins, apricots, oranges, toffee, vanilla, milk chocolate and a subtle note of oak.
Finish: long and sweet, apples, apricots, bitter orange jam, caramel and vanilla.
