Product description
Macallan Distillery built its reputation on claim that European oak sherry casks are the only type of wood used for whisky aging.
In 2004 however, The Edrington Group, Macallan parent company, launched multi million-dollar campaign for promoting the Fine Oak series, range of Macallan single malts aged in combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The Macallan purists expressed their disappointment, but soon Fine Oak series established itself rather well, giving different perspective for the Macallan malt. The 25 years old expression is aged in Spanish oak seasoned with sherry and American oak seasoned with bourbon and with sherry. Macallan is currently the third best selling single malt after Glenfiddich and Glenlivet.
