Catoctin Creek is a craft distillery located in Purceville, Virginia. Founded in 2009 by Becky and Scott Harris it is the first legal distillery in Loudoun County since before prohibition. The name Catoctin derives from the Indian tribal name “Kittocton” and according to the legend means “place of many deer”. Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye is a unique whiskey, certified organic and kosher, distilled in 100% from rye. It is young rye whiskey aged for around two years primarily in small, 30-gallon new Minnesota oak barrels. The supply of Roundstone Rye is strictly limited, with annual output of roughly 40000 bottles.
Nose: delicate scent of spring meadow, honey, buttered toast, hints of walnuts and oak.
Palate: smooth, caramel, toffee, banana bread, lemon grass, hints of cinnamon and pepper and touch of oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of rye bread, honey and oak.
