Product description
Dad's Hat is a rye whiskey from Mountain Laurel Spirit, a microdistillery founded in 2010 by Herman C. Mihalich and John S. Cooper.
The distillery is based in Bristol, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of original (read: rye) American whiskey. Dad's Hat's recipe calls for 80% rye, 15% malted barley, and 5% malted rye, and the whiskey is aged for at least 6 months (usually 8-9) in charred 15-gallon quarter casks. (The distillery also has a small number of 53-gallon barrels on hand.) Dad's Hat Pennsylvania Rye debuted in 2012, and three years later won the Craft Whiskey of the Year award from Whisky Advocate magazine.
