Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music) is an annual event organised by the islanders since 1986. It promotes Islay, its culture and historical heritage.
Each local distillery takes an active part in the event, usually honoring it with a limited edition of whisky. In 2007, Laphroaig Distillery introduced 1989 Vintage, a 17-year-old cask strength whisky (50.3% abv), for members of the Friends of Laphroaig Society. This edition, limited to 4,000 bottles, also commemorates the opening of the Society's meeting room on the distillery grounds.
