Knockdhu, the first distillery built by DCL (Distillers Company Limited), commenced operation in 1894 with the task of supplying malt spirits for Haig's blends .
The plant was closed in 1983 and five years later it became the property of Inver House Distillers, since 2001 part of the Thai formation Pacific Spirits. Single malt Knockdhu debuted in 1990, but only three years later the owners began promoting it as anCnoc due to the similarity of the name Knockdhu to the competing Knockando. The 21 years old Cask Strength edition, consisting of 6,200 bottles, went into distribution on the threshold of the new millennium.
