Product description
Glenfiddich 50 years old debuted in 2009. It was composed from nine barrels filled between 1957 and 1959, each representing one of William Grant's children.
The second edition is based on distillates from two barrels, 1955 and 1957, which were subjected to a 6-month marriage. The bottles that fill this half-century of nectar are of course handmade, numbered and presented in hand-stitched leather cases lined with hand-woven silk. The whole is completed by a leather-bound book and a certificate. The edition consists of 500 bottles, which will be distributed over the course of a decade in the amount of 50 per year. (The tasting notes are from the producer).
Aroma: harmonious and uplifting, extremely expressive and complex. Delicate floral tones (rose petals and violets) interacting with green tobacco leaves and oak, with a gentle whiff of peat smoke.
Taste: the initial sweetness of orange marmalade and vanilla toffee is soon replaced by a cascade of flavours: aromatic herbs, soft and juicy fruits, floral notes, silky tannins and a delicate peat smoke.
Finish : extremely long, caressing with bitterness of oak and peat smoke.
