Bleu Sky Rye (full name Shippen Bros. Bleu Sky Rye) is a somewhat mysterious whiskey brand from the portfolio of Diversa Brands Inc.

The company has been in business since 2005, is headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, and its mission is to “distribute high-quality alcoholic beverages that satisfy consumers with the most demanding palates.” Diversa is a small operation, and its portfolio includes two bourbons, Big Ass and 1888 Small Batch, in addition to the Bleu Sky Rye presented here. Bleu Sky Rye is distilled at the MGP Indiana distillery and aged for about two years. It is bottled by Strong Spirits, based in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Aroma: slightly spirituous, a slice of wholemeal bread, oak shavings, pepper, pine needles, a touch of anise and vanilla.

Palate : quite spicy, pepper, ginger, rye bread toast, vanilla, brown sugar and a trace of oak chips.

Finish: medium long, with notes of rye bread, pepper, vanilla, herbal spice and oak.
