Product description
Bottle No. 669, 673 / 1500
When the Loch Lomond Distillery Company took over the dormant Littlemill in 1994, it believed that the company was adding the historic Lowlands distillery to its assets and that distilling would resume within months.
However, reality was less kind, Littlemill never regained its operational status, and plans to open a whisky museum on the grounds were never realised. Some of the buildings were demolished, others were destroyed by fire. The 25-year-old edition from 2015 presented here is distilled in 1989-1990, aged in ten American and European oak barrels and finished in Oloroso sherry casks. 1,500 bottles were filled, each with a 50ml miniature and a fragment of stave from one of the barrels used for maturation.
Nose : rich, honey, toffee, vanilla, apples, raisins, dried apricots and dates, cinnamon, candied ginger, orange peel, notes of cocoa and oak.
Taste: complex, delicate notes of sherry, apricots, pineapples, banana cake, chocolate-covered cherries, traces of tobacco and licorice, a pinch of pepper and a hint of oak.
Finish: long, spicy, with a hint of dried fruit and a subtle bitterness of oak.
