Product description
Finlaggan is the name of a castle built on the Isle of Islay in the 13th century (now in ruins) and is also a brand of single malt whisky from The Vintage Malt Whisky Company's portfolio.
The word "Finlaggan" loosely translates from Gaelic to "island stronghold". Finlaggan's labels bear no reference to the distillery that distilled the whisky, only the terse statement "the distillate comes from the famous distillery on Islay". Eilean Mòr ("Big Island"), bottled at 46% ABV, debuted in 2015. (Eilean Mòr is the largest island of the small Flannan archipelago, part of the Inner Hebrides.)
Aroma: lots of peat smoke and sea salt, iodine, seaweed, light citrus and malt notes.
Taste: smoky and spicy, slightly oily, peat, iodine, pepper, a pinch of salt, and traces of malt in the background.
Finish: long and smoky, with a distinct spicy note.
