Product description
Prohibition Distillery is a 2009 investment by Brian Facquet and John Walsh.
Based in a former fire station in Roscoe, New York, in the Catskill Mountains, the distillery originally partnered with Tuthilltown Distillery, the producer of Hudson whiskey. The distillery’s first distillation was in 2013. Bootlegger 21 includes vodka, gin and whiskey. Inspired by the classic London Dry style, the gin is formulated with just five botanicals—juniper berries, orris root, coriander, lemon verbena and bitter orange peel. They’re steeped overnight in 100% corn distilled spirit, then re-distilled and diluted with local mountain water to 47% abv before bottling. The name Bootlegger 21 refers to the 21st Amendment to the Constitution, which repealed Prohibition.
Bootlegger 21 New York Gin is a bit reminiscent of the London Dry style, with an aromatic bouquet that is slightly tempered by citrus and floral notes. Each of the botanicals has a hand in the flavour palette, beautifully complementing the distinct notes of juniper. Bootlegger 21 Gin tastes great with traditional Schweppes tonic and a slice of lime, and we also recommend it in the Vesper Martini cocktail.
