Product description
Gin Ojo de Agua is the creation of Dieter Meier, a Swiss aristocrat, founder of the music group Yello (with Boris Blank), producer of organic Argentine wines and professional poker player.
In the late 90s, he bought 2,200 hectares of land in Argentina and began organic cattle breeding (Black Angus) on his Ojo de Agua ranch. Ojo de Agua gin was created in collaboration with Olivier Matter, owner of the Matter-Luginbühl Distillery near Bern. Distilled in Switzerland, this gin has a strong Argentine accent, one of the ingredients is the leaves of the yerba mate plant, from which the national drink yerba mate is brewed, and the lemons also come from the Argentine Tucumán. Other botanical ingredients in Ojo de Agua are juniper berries, coriander, rosemary, lavender, angelica root, lemon and orange peel, and blackberries. The spirit used for maceration contains 15% brandy distilled from Malbec grapes sourced from the Meier vineyard, and just before bottling, the gin is “seasoned” with blackberry eau-de-vie distilled from fruit picked at the Ojo de Agua farm.
Gin Ojo de Agua is a unique drink, in which strong tones of juniper, pine needles and rosemary are supported by slightly nutty notes of angelica and pleasant bitterness of mate. The producer recommends serving it with Gents tonic.
