Product description
Auchentoshan Virgin Oak debuted in 2013 and was met with a positive response from consumers.
The term "Virgin oak" is used to describe oak barrels that have never been used to mature spirits before, which is not common among Scotch whisky producers. Batch No. 2 hit the market in September 2014. It was a limited edition (although the producer did not disclose how many bottles were filled) bottled at 46% ABV without prior chill filtration and with a natural colour.
Nose: fresh and sweet, vanilla, caramel, marzipan, lemongrass, a hint of orange peel, a mixture of nuts, notes of ginger and oak.
Palate : lots of oak and spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, caramel, cotton candy, tannins and a pinch of cocoa.
Finish: quite long with a predominance of oak and spices complemented by the sweetness of vanilla.
