Product description
In 2015, Kilchoman Distillery celebrated its tenth birthday. In addition to the special edition, the Sanaig version debuted, the second whisky in the distillery's core range, alongside Machir Bay.
While Machir Bay is mostly blended from bourbon barrel aged spirits, Sanaig shows a strong Oloroso sherry barrel influence. It shares its name with the tiny, rocky cove to the north-west of the distillery. Sanaig is another young Kilchoman (aged 4-5 years), bottled non-chill-filtered at 46% abv.
Nose : a pleasant combination of fruit (apples and grapes) and peat smoke, vanilla, toffee, buttered toast, a trace of cinnamon and anise, a light mineral note.
Palate: peat again, plums, currants, apples, toffee, dark chocolate, pepper, ginger, candied lemon peel and a delicate bitterness of oak.
Finish : long, initially fruity and sweet, soon turning into spicy and peaty.
