Product description
Dufftown Distillery was built in 1896 by a group of private investors, one of whom was Peter Mackenzie, creator of the formula for The Real Mackenzie blend , which is still available today.
In 1933 the plant was purchased by Arthur Bell & Sons and since then Dufftown distillate has featured prominently in Bell's blends . The 8 year old edition presented here, bottled by Arthur Bell & Sons, is based on whisky distilled before 1985, when the Bells' company was acquired by Guinness.
Aroma: mild, slightly floral, malty, a bunch of herbs from the garden, burnt toast, traces of vanilla and cereal coffee and distant notes of peat smoke.
Taste: lots of malt, light waxy tones, linseed, burnt toast, vanilla, unripe apples, lemon peel and quite a strong oak bitterness.
Finish: medium long, with strong oak and herbal notes.
