Product description
Located in Nagano Prefecture, the Karuizawa Distillery was established in 1956.
It was never a large distillery, its annual capacity of 150 thousand liters of pure alcohol per year placed it in this respect on a par with the Scottish Edradour and Kilchoman. Closed in 2011, after liquidation it gained the status of a cult distillery, mainly due to the British company Number One Drinks, which gradually bought and began promoting distillates from Karuizawa. Due to the small capacity of the plant, most editions of whiskey from here are strictly limited batches, limited to several hundred bottles. In this case, we are dealing with a bottle from an extremely strictly limited edition, consisting of only 566 bottles. This extremely rare whiskey comes from a single sherry cask, in which it spent 33 years. It was not subjected to coloring, filtration or dilution - it went into the bottle exactly as it left the cask.
Aroma: Resinous and herbal. Camphor, thyme, pipe tobacco, black tea.
Taste : Smooth, well-balanced. Accents of orange and tangerine, spices, tea, earthy notes.
Finish : Long, earthy and tannic, dry.
