River Rose Gin is a product of Mississippi River Distilling Company founded by brothers Ryan and Garrett Burchett in 2010 in Le Claire, Iowa.

The micro-distillery produces vodka, gin, bourbon and rye whiskey and describes itself as a “grain-to-glass operation”; the grain used in the distillation is grown within a 25-mile radius of the distillery. River Rose Gin is based on a late 19th-century formula that lists the following botanicals: juniper berries, angelica root, anise, cardamom, coriander, cinnamon, lavender, lemons, oranges, grapefruit, cucumbers and rose petals. The base spirit is a house-made spirit distilled from corn and wheat. The name of the gin is a reference to a sharp bend and cliffs on the Mississippi River near Le Claire, where steamboat helmsmen used to hire local river pilots to help them navigate.

River Rose combines aromas of juniper, anise and lavender with a delicate citrus scent; the latter comes to the fore in the palette, while juniper, anise, coriander and cucumber create a harmonious background. River Rose is a gin that works well in many cocktails, of which we recommend Aviation, Negroni and Clover Club.
