Product description
Filliers Dry Gin 28 is the signature of Filliers Distillery based in the village of Bachte-Maria-Leerne in East Flanders.
It was built in 1880 by Karel Lodevijk Filliers and until the beginning of the 21st century it distilled jenever and gin. In 2006, after a thorough modernisation, the plant began producing whisky. The formula for the gin presented here was developed in 1928 by Firmin Filliers using 28 botanical ingredients, the key ones of which, apart from juniper berries, are: Belgian hops and angelica root, allspice from Jamaica and Seville oranges and lemons (the company does not disclose all the ingredients). The gin is distilled twice in copper stills in small batches. Filliers is, alongside Bols Genever, one of the oldest brands of gin still produced today, although its global popularity dates back to 2012, when it debuted on the British market.
Filliers Dry Gin 28 is a classic of the genre. In the aromatic and flavor palette, next to juniper, we discover strong citrus notes (especially orange), cardamom, coriander and a bit of hops and pine needles. This delicate gin tastes great served with the classic Schweppes tonic.
