Macduff Distillery, producer of Glen Deveron single malt , is primarily the main supplier of malt distillate for William Lawson's blends .
The distillery's owner, Bacardi Martini, has recently been taking a big initiative in promoting single malt whiskies from its portfolio. In 2013, the Royal Burgh Collection series debuted , offering Glen Deveron 16, 20 and 30 years old. Its name refers to the port town of Banff, the seat of local government and the distillery. The three versions of Glen Deveron are blended with a large share of distillates aged in sherry casks and are intended for distribution in the Travel Retail network .
Nose: fresh and fruity, very delicate tones of sherry, grapefruit, kiwi, apricots, maple syrup and a bunch of dried herbs in the background.
Taste: mild, lots of tropical fruit, vanilla cream, honey, baked apples, traces of cloves and oak.
Finish: medium long, soothing, apples, honey, candied ginger and oak.
