Product description
Crown Royal whisky was introduced by Seagram in 1939 to commemorate the visit of King George V and his daughter Elizabeth, future Queen Elizabeth II, to Canada.
It was not available for export until 1964. Since 2001 the brand has been owned by Diageo, the world largest producer of alcoholic beverages. Crown Royal is produced solely in Gimli Distillery in Manitoba, often called Crown Royal Distillery. Gimli was built in 1968 and can produce over 40 million liters of spirit per annum using on average 8.5 tons of grain hourly. Crown Royal XO was launched in early 2014. It is a blend of more than 50 whiskies finished in ex-cognac casks for an unspecified period of time. Crown Royal has been by far the best-selling Canadian whisky for many years; in 2022, the brand sold 8.4 million cases worldwide.
