Product description

Opus One Winery was founded in 1978 as a joint venture between two legends of winemaking—Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux and Robert Mondavi, a pioneer of California winemaking. The estate is located in the heart of Napa Valley, in Oakville, where conditions are ideal for growing Bordeaux grape varieties. The vineyard covers more than 170 hectares, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The estate's architecture blends French elegance with California minimalism, reflecting the philosophy of harmony between the two winemaking traditions. The first vintage of Opus One was released in 1984 (made from grapes harvested in 1979) and immediately captured the world's attention. From the very beginning, wine has been considered a symbol of luxury and a unique fusion of the Old and New Worlds. An interesting fact is that Opus One was one of the first California wines sold in Europe at a very high price, rivaling the best Bordeaux wines. The bottles are adorned with a distinctive label featuring the founders' profiles, which highlights the uniqueness of the project.Opus One regularly receives scores above 95 points from critics such as Robert Parker and “Wine Spectator”.Today, the winery is a symbol of Napa Valley's prestige and produces one of the most sought-after wines in the world.

Appearance: a deep, ruby-navy color with an elegant sheen.

Aroma: ripe black fruits (blackberries, currants, plums), violets, cedar, chocolate, vanilla, and subtle notes of tobacco.

Taste: powerful yet velvety; rich structure, distinct yet refined tannins, notes of black currant, cherry, and dark chocolate, with a long and complex finish.

Food pairings: beef (steak, tenderloin), lamb, venison, aged cheeses (Comté, Manchego, Pecorino).
