Product description
The history of the Sauska brand began in Tokaj and later expanded to Villány—the two most prestigious wine regions in Hungary. The founder is Christian Sauska, an entrepreneur who returned from the U.S. to his home country with a vision of creating a world-class winery.Sauski's philosophy is based on a blend of the region's traditions and a modern approach to winemaking, a clean style, and a commitment to elegance and precision.
In Villány, the Sauski vineyards encompass some of the best sites in the region, located on southern slopes with optimal sunlight and limestone-rich soil. The Mediterranean-style climate, with warm summers and long autumns, produces grapes with high sugar concentration, excellent phenolic ripeness, and an intense aroma.
The producer is renowned for striking a perfect balance between fruitiness and the influence of barrel aging—using both new and used French oak barrels.Every stage of production is carried out with attention to detail: from hand-picking and selecting the grapes to aging and bottling. As a result, Sauska has earned recognition not only in Hungary but also internationally, regularly receiving high marks from wine critics.
Sauska Brut is a premium dry sparkling wine produced in the Tokaj region, famous not only for its sweet wines but also for its exceptional potential for producing base wines for sparkling cuvées.It is produced using the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle)—the same method used in Champagne—with a second fermentation in the bottle and aging on the lees, which allows it to achieve finesse and depth.
Local grape varieties are used in production, including Furmint , which contributes distinct acidity, minerality, and freshness, as well as Hárslevelű and Chardonnay for aromatic balance and a more delicate structure. After secondary fermentation in the bottle, the wine ages on its lees for several months, developing notes of baked goods and nuts, along with a subtle creaminess.
The result is a sparkling wine of extraordinary elegance—fresh, dynamic, and yet complex.Delicate bubbles highlight its lightness and mineral character, and the harmonious blend of fruit and autolytic notes places Sauska Brut among the best sparkling wines in Central Europe.
Appearance: a light, straw-gold color with an elegant, fine, and persistent perlage.
