Product description
Sauska is one of Hungary's most prestigious winemakers, operating in the Villány and Tokaj regions. The winery combines modern technology with tradition, focusing on precise winemaking and the selection of the best vineyards.Villány, known as the “red heart of Hungary,” is famous for its full-bodied, structured wines, and Sauska has long been regarded as one of the best ambassadors of this style.
Essencia Tokaj 2005 Sauska is an absolute gem of Tokaj winemaking, one of the rarest and most luxurious wines in the world. It is made exclusively from hand-harvested, nobly botrytized clusters of Furmint and Hárslevelű, from which a thick, honey-like juice flows naturally—under its own weight. The alcohol content is extremely low (about.3%), because fermentation proceeds very slowly due to the extremely high sugar concentration.
Appearance: a dense, amber-gold color with a texture reminiscent of liqueur.
Aroma: intense notes of acacia honey, figs, dried apricots, dates, candied fruit, and spices, with a delicate hint of tea and noble botrytis.
Taste: extremely concentrated, dense, and velvety, with an almost syrupy texture, featuring powerful sweetness perfectly balanced by Tokaj’s characteristic, fresh acidity. The finish is endless, multi-layered, and clean.
Food pairings: considered primarily a wine for contemplation, served in small quantities. It can be served with foie gras, blue cheese, and desserts made with dried fruits and nuts, but it is most often enjoyed on its own as a unique taste experience.
This wine has nearly limitless aging potential – it can continue to delight for hundreds of years, serving as a true testament to the craftsmanship of Tokaj’s winemakers.
