Product description
The history of the Sauska brand began in Tokaj and later expanded to Villány—the two most prestigious wine regions in Hungary. The founder is Christian Sauska, an entrepreneur who returned from the U.S. to his home country with a vision of creating a world-class winery.Sauski's philosophy is based on a blend of the region's traditions and a modern approach to winemaking, a clean style, and a commitment to elegance and precision.
In Villány, the Sauski vineyards encompass some of the best sites in the region, located on southern slopes with optimal sunlight and limestone-rich soil. The Mediterranean-style climate, with warm summers and long autumns, produces grapes with high sugar concentration, excellent phenolic ripeness, and an intense aroma.
The producer is renowned for striking a perfect balance between fruitiness and the influence of barrel aging—using both new and used French oak barrels.Every stage of production is carried out with attention to detail: from hand-picking and selecting the grapes to aging and bottling. As a result, Sauska has earned recognition not only in Hungary but also internationally, regularly receiving high marks from wine critics.
Tokaj Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2019 Sauska is one of the world’s most prestigious sweet wines, made from hand-harvested grapes affected by noble rot (Botrytis)..The designation “6 puttonyos” indicates the highest level of sweetness and concentration, while maintaining elegance and harmony.
Appearance: a deep, golden-amber color with a sheen, typical of top-class aszú wines.
Aroma: intense notes of dried apricots, candied orange peel, linden honey, and figs, enriched with hints of spices, vanilla, and noble botrytis.
Taste: velvety, dense, and exceptionally complex, with distinct sweetness perfectly balanced by lively acidity. The palate is dominated by notes of honey, dried fruit, caramel, and almonds, and the long finish brings a mineral freshness.
Food pairings: perfect with foie gras, aged blue cheeses (e.g., Roquefort, Gorgonzola), and desserts made with caramel, dried fruits, or white chocolate. It also works well as a wine for quiet enjoyment, served on its own.
