- Wine from terraced vineyards on the steep slopes of Dürnstein, where the stony soils give it a mineral character. It combines notes of citrus, herbs, and white pepper with a juicy acidity and a subtle saltiness. Perfect for seafood and fish.
Product description
F. X. Winery.Pichler (Weingut F.X.Pichler) operates in the Wachau region of Austria and has been in the Pichler family for five generations.Franz Xaver (“F. X.") took over the assets in 1971., expanding it from its original few hectares to the current plantation of about 20 ha.The winery focuses exclusively on white grape varieties—primarily Grüner Veltliner, as well as Riesling and small batches of Sauvignon Blanc.Crops were grown both in the lowland area (the Danube River basin) and on steep terraces located at higher elevations, on slopes reaching 300 m above sea level.p.m.
The wine comes from a single vineyard, Liebenberg , located on steep terraces near Dürnstein, where the bedrock consists primarily of paragneiss with amphibolite inclusions, and the soils are thin, stony, and well-drained.The producer's sources emphasize that the Veltliner from this vineyard is characterized by distinct minerality and spiciness, with a subtle hint of salt in the finish.Winemakers F.X.The Pichlers classify Liebenberg as a vineyard with a strong terroir character, where the elevation of the vines, the southwest-facing slope, and the stony soil contribute to the wine's intensity and elegance.
Appearance: light yellow with subtle greenish highlights.
