Amrut is the first Indian single malt whisky. It has been produced since 2004 at a distillery located in the city of Kambipura.
The name Amrut comes from Sanskrit and means "nectar of the gods" or "elixir of life". Barley grown in India is mainly used for production. Barley is imported from Scotland for composing peated editions. The Intermediate Edition was initially matured in bourbon barrels, then in sherry barrels and at the end of the maturation the distillates were poured back into bourbon barrels.
Nose : fruity and spicy with notes of pastry, oak, sherry, vanilla, orange, cinnamon, raisins, nuts and honey
Palate : deep and strong with tones of oak, sweet raisins, barley, orange, licorice, honey, vanilla and sherry
Finish: long and balanced with accents of caramel, sherry and spices.
