Product description
Edradour, one of Scotland’s smaller distilleries, has been experimenting with different types of casks for both primary and finishing maturation since its acquisition by Signatory Vintage Whisky Company in 2002.
The results of the tests are a large number of limited editions, some of which are spirits with extraordinary aromatic and flavor palettes. The whisky presented here, distilled in March 2011, spent over 12 years in eight fresh hogshead barrels (no. 51-58) after Barbaresco. (Barbaresco is an Italian red wine produced from the Nebbiolo grape variety). The whisky was bottled at 48.6% abv, natural color and without chill filtration on July 3, 2023 in an edition of 2,921 bottles.
Nose: chocolate truffles, Christmas fruit cake, blackcurrants, black cherries, orange peel, maple syrup, vanilla, black tea, notes of dried mushrooms and toasted oak.
Palate: vanilla cream, roasted nuts, marzipan, blackberries, raspberries, blood oranges, cloves, candied ginger and some oak tannins
Finish: quite long, with notes of dark berries, chocolate, honey, walnuts, black pepper, ginger and oak.
