Product description
Glen Scotia is one of only three distilleries working today in Campbeltown, the smallest producing district for Scotch whisky.
The distillery experienced many production disruptions in the 20th century, and the condition of its buildings and equipment left much to be desired. In the new century, the distillery has a third owner, Hillside Management from Hong Kong, although it underwent significant modernisation under the previous owner, Exponent Group (2014-2019). The Glen Scotia 21 year old presented here hit the market in January 2023 in an edition of 2,500 bottles. The whisky was aged in American oak barrels (ex-bourbon and hogshead), then transferred to first-fill Oloroso sherry casks for six months, and finally bottled at 46% abv without chill filtration. In 2021, Glen Scotia Distillery was named "Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year" in the Scotch Whisky Awards.
