The Cooper's Choice is a range of single malt and single grain whiskies from the portfolio of The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, founded in 1992 by Brian Crook.

The Cooper's Choice debuted a year later and pays tribute to the coopers, whose role in Scotch whisky is often underestimated. The "Mystery of the Lowlands" 8 year old presented here is the "cooper's choice" from 2022. This time the company does not reveal the distillery, only its location - the Lowlands. The whisky was distilled in October 2014 and aged in an American oak cask before being finished in a Madeira cask (no. 81). The whisky was bottled at cask strength (57% abv) and without chill filtration in 2022, in an edition of 390 bottles.

Nose : barley malt, apple blossom, vanilla, brown sugar, orange peel, cantaloupe, sultanas, notes of cinnamon and oak.

Taste: honey breakfast cereal, milk fudge, vanilla, chocolate cake, dried figs and dates, allspice and a hint of lavender.

Finish : medium long, vinous, with notes of dried fruit, brown sugar, milk chocolate, cinnamon and oak.
