Kavalan Distillery Select debuted in the fall of 2018 and was the herald of a new series intended to showcase the full range of aromas and flavours of this whisky.
About two years later, Distillery Select No. 2 was launched, and the original version was renamed Distillery Select No. 1. Its creator, master blender Ian Chang, used distillates from the “most neutral barrels” to show the character of the distillery and the local climate without too much wood interference. This is the first Kavalan recommended for cocktails. In its debut year, Kavalan won the Icon of Whisky Award from Whisky Magazine.
Aroma : strongly fruity, apples, oranges, mango, papaya, dried apricots, buttery croissants, vanilla cream and a hint of toffee.
Palate: sweet bread, vanilla cream, honey, apples, pears, tangerines, mango, notes of white pepper and cinnamon.
Finish : quite long, a basket of exotic fruits, notes of honey and vanilla cream balanced with subtle spiciness.
