“Artist” is a luxury whisky series from the portfolio of Parisian distributor La Maison du Whisky.

It debuted in 2011 and immediately caught the attention of connoisseurs with both its excellent selection and its unusual, thought-provoking presentation – each edition is decorated with a label depicting the work of a contemporary artist. The twelfth series was released in 2022 and featured Scottish single malts. The Ledaig presented here, distilled in 2007, spent over 15 years in a refilled sherry butt (no. 900037). The whisky was bottled at cask strength (64.8% abv) and without chill filtration, and the edition consisted of 456 bottles. The graphic design used the work entitled “Siciliani” (“Sicilians”) by Hanover-born artist Gesine Arps.

Nose: intense peat smoke, sherry, black cherries, dried apricots, smoked plums, mango, dark chocolate, sea salt, lapsang souchong tea and toasted oak.

Taste : peat smoke, dark chocolate, toffee, salted caramel, multi-berry jam, almonds, smoked meat, white pepper, a touch of ginger and oak tannins.

Finish: long, with notes of peat smoke, salted nuts and almonds, red berries, licorice, white pepper and oak.
