2021 was a year of incredible success for Glen Scotia Distillery on the Scotch whisky market.
This modest distillery, based in Campbeltown and producing around 500,000 litres of spirit per year, was named ‘Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year’ in the Scotch Whisky Awards, and a few months earlier, Glen Scotia 25 Year Old won the coveted ‘Best in Show’ title at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. This limited edition commemorates those events. Distilled in 1999, it was aged in specially selected bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength (54.8% abv) and without chill filtration in 2022. Only 500 bottles were released.
Aroma : vanilla sticks, toffee, salted caramel, honey, coconut flakes, pineapples, oranges, cinnamon buns, toasted oak, damp sand and a breath of sea breeze.
Palate: vanilla pudding, milk fudge, salted caramel, lemon jam on toast, coconut, roasted peanuts, white pepper, cinnamon and toasted oak.
Finish : long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, honey, tropical fruits, white pepper, lemongrass and oak.
