Albert Heinrich Riise was a naturalist and pharmacist. He began experimenting with fermenting sugar cane in 1838 at his newly established pharmacy in St. Thomas, West Indies. Through Albert's work, the initial undrinkable rum, which was a type of cologne and aftershave, evolved into the rum we know today. All AH Riise products strive to honor his many achievements.
