Product description

Wm Cadenhead Ltd. is Scotland's oldest independent whisky bottler.

The company was founded in 1842 in Aberdeen by George Duncan, his brother-in-law, William Cadenhead (a poet, by the way) joined the company in 1858, and after Duncan's death he christened it with his own name. In 1972 Wm Cadenhead Ltd. was purchased at auction by the owner of Springbank, J. & A. Mitchell & Co., who moved its headquarters to Campbeltown. In addition to a wide range of Scotch whiskies, Wm Cadenhead Ltd. also offers rums, gins and bourbons. The Strathisla 12 year old presented here was distilled in 1989, aged in a bourbon hogshead cask (American oak) and bottled at cask strength (54.9% abv) in 2002. The edition consisted of 258 bottles.

Nose: barley malt, kitchen garden, apples, pears, toffee, vanilla, licorice, white pepper, notes of anise, hay and oak.

Palate : vanilla, honey, cappuccino, fruit drops, apples, peaches, orange peel, licorice, fennel, lemongrass and a touch of oak.

Finish : medium long, with notes of summer fruits, vanilla, honey, licorice, a touch of white pepper, hay and oak.
