Product description
Wm Cadenhead Ltd. is Scotland's oldest independent whisky bottler.
The company was founded in 1842 in Aberdeen by George Duncan, his brother-in-law, William Cadenhead (a poet, by the way) joined the company in 1858, and after Duncan's death he christened it with his own name. In 1972 Wm Cadenhead Ltd. was purchased at auction by Springbank's owner, J. & A. Mitchell & Co., who moved its headquarters to Campbeltown. In addition to a wide range of Scotch whiskies, Wm Cadenhead Ltd. also offers rums, gins and bourbons. The Springbank 22 year old on display here is a real rarity, distilled in the 1950s and aged in refill sherry casks. The whisky is bottled at 80 British proof, which translates to approximately 45.7% abv.
