Product description
Athrú is an Irish whiskey brand from the Lough Gill Distillery portfolio.
The distillery is located in County Sligo in the west of Ireland, an area that has been associated with whiskey production since the early 15th century. The distillery began production in 2019 with three Italian-made stills, and the driving force behind the project was David Raethorne, a partner in Causeway Capital. In order to maintain financial liquidity, the company partnered with Billy Walker (current owner of GlenAllachie Distillery) to create the Athrú brand (the name means “transformation”) based on whiskey from undisclosed Irish distilleries. The Athrú 17 year old presented here spent 14 years in ex-bourbon casks, then finished for another three in an Oloroso sherry cask. The edition consisted of 310 bottles.
