Product description
Sakurao Distillery was founded by Chugoku Jozo Company in 2018.
The company was established a hundred years earlier in the outskirts of Hiroshima and produces mainly sake and shōchu; whisky was added to the portfolio in the early 1990s. Their greatest success was Togouchi whisky composed from Canadian grain whisky and Scottish single malts (the whisky is extra aged in the abandoned, 361 meters long railway tunnel). Sakurao whisky is aged at the distillery site as well as in the abandoned railway tunnel; the former was released in June 2021 under the Sakurao brand, while the latter kept the name Togouchi. The whisky presented here was aged in American oak barrels and ex-sherry casks and finished in Mizunara oak casks for several months.
