Product description
Kouro is one of the so-called “whisky brands” from the portfolio of the family-owned Yonezawa Kaikyō Distillery.
Its operations (initially breweries) date back to the mid-19th century, in 1917 it began distilling sake, and 100 years later, in September 2018, it applied for a whisky distilling license. The distillery is located near the Akashi-Kaikyō Bridge, the world's longest suspension bridge (1,991 meters). The debut of its own single malt is planned for the end of 2022. Kouro pure malt whisky is a blend of single malts aged in bourbon and sherry barrels, finished in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels. The company does not disclose details about its components.
Aroma : mild barley malt, vanilla, brown sugar, honey, sponge cake, apples, cherries, plums and light herbal and oak notes.
Taste: light and quite sweet, milk fudge, vanilla, honey cereal, butter cookies, cappuccino, apples, nectarines, a bit of cinnamon and licorice.
Finish: medium long, with notes of honey, vanilla, cinnamon, dried fruit, a touch of sherry and oak.
