- Two by Two Rye is the third installment in limited edition Basil Hayden’s rye line (the previous two were Basil Hayden’s Rye Whiskey and Basil Hayden’s Dark Rye).

Whiskey Two by Two Rye debuted in July 2018 as the third rye-based version of the Basil Hayden's brand (the previous two were Basil Hayden's Rye and Basil Hayden's Dark Rye).
This time we got a blend of rye whiskey and bourbon – 5-year-old Kentucky Straight Rye, 7-year-old “high rye” Kentucky Straight Rye, 13-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon and 6-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon. The producer does not disclose the formulas of the mash components, we have heard that the share of rye whiskey in the final product is 80%. We also know that Jim Beam uses at least two bourbon formulas and two rye whiskey formulas.
Nose : lots of oak, toasted rye bread, white pepper, cocoa powder, vanilla, brown sugar, baked plantains and a pinch of ginger.
Palate : wholemeal bread slice, mixed dried herbs, white pepper, ginger, vanilla, toffee, caramel, chocolate bar and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of spices, oak tannins, roasted nuts and a trace of leather.
