Product description
The Cooper's Choice is a range of single malt and single grain whiskies from the portfolio of The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, founded in 1992 by Brian Crook.
The Cooper's Choice debuted a year later and pays tribute to the coopers, whose role in Scotch whisky is often underestimated. Here we present a rather unusual 'cooper's choice', a blended malt based on samples of whiskies from the company's archive. The full formula of the blend is not known, but the fifteen components include Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain, Laphroaig, Benrinnes and Mortlach. The finished blend was finished in a refilled sherry butt, and the edition consisted of 570 bottles.
Nose : peat smoke, sea breeze, seaweed salad, barley malt, caramel, raisins, prunes, licorice, notes of ginger, sherry and oak.
Palate: smokey-hospital, a drop of tar, sea breeze, smoked seafood, salted caramel, raisins, dried dates, notes of tobacco, leather, sherry and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of peat smoke, sea salt, vanilla, lemon peel, white pepper, herbal mix and oak.
