Maison Gautier is one of the oldest cognac houses.
The family was producing eaux-de-vie as early as the 16th Century and gained recognition making casks using oak from the Tronçais. Over the centuries the family developed the trade in cognac, and in 1755 officially established Maison Gautier after receiving a Royal Warrant to produce cognac, and a founding charter signed by the King Louis XV. In 1995 Maison Gautier became part of Marie Bizard & Roger International, which in turn was acquired by the Belvedere Group in 2006. Gautier XO Pinar del Rio Cigar Cognac is named after Cuban valley, famous for the finest tobacco cultivation. It is a blend of eaux-de-vie aged from 10 to 25 years, created with a cigar and cognac connoisseurs in mind. The cognac scored number of medals and awards, including Double Gold at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Nose: nicely balanced, vanilla, toffee, dried figs and apricots, orange peel, freshly roasted coffee beans, allspice, tobacco, potpourri and oak.
Palate: dried figs and dates, orange peel, raisins, vanilla, nougat, cinnamon, clove, dash of black pepper, tobacco and oak tannins.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, dried fruits, tobacco, hints of leather and oak.
