- In 1961 Tadashi Matsuda opened a distillery in the city of Naha on the Japanese island of Okinawa. The distillery was initially named Taiyou and it primarily manufactured rum from the locally cultivated sugar cane.

In 1961, Tadashi Matsuda founded a distillery called Taiyou in the town of Naha on the Japanese island of Okinawa.
The first product of the new distillery was rum produced from locally grown sugar cane. The producer's assumption from the very beginning was to produce the highest quality products based on local raw materials. Over time, the distillery changed its name to Helios (1969), and the range of spirits produced there was expanded to include a number of other alcohols, including shochu, awamori, umeshu, beer, and finally whisky.
Teeda 5 Years Old is a rum made from local sugar cane, matured for 5 years in American bourbon oak barrels and released in a limited edition.
Aroma : Varnish, iodine, medical notes, tropical fruits, apples, honey, floral notes.
Taste: Light, medical notes, dark chocolate, honey, flowers, toasted oak.
Finish: Medium long, roasted notes, slight bitterness, oak.
